Our Mission:
I think our mission statement is best summed up by this verse:
“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” ~ 1 John 3:18(NLT)
Our mission is to help those in need, and do this because of the change Christ put in us, “to love our neighbors as ourselves”. Through this pantry we are loving our neighbor, coming alongside our brothers and sisters who may have stumbled in the race, by showing the love that we have freely received, help them back to their feet. We strive to not only help them physically, but spiritually as well! We will be praying for them and letting them know the simplest truth….that they are loved.
Our Purpose:
Our purpose is to use coupons to help minimize the cost of stocking our shelves. This means keeping our costs as close to zero as possible. We will adhere to the old saying, “give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime”. We want to teach people who are part of the program, or just a member of our congregation how to coupon in such a way as to maximize their grocery budget with the most minimal cost.
Our Values:
Respect We respect the inherent worth and dignity of every person and treat all with justice, equity and compassion. We honor the lives, concerns and stories of people in need and expect our partners to do the same. We accept one another and encourage diversity of thoughts and ideas.
Stewardship and Accountability We keep faith with the public trust through the efficient and compassionate use of resources entrusted to us and are mindful that our mission is accomplished through the generosity of others. We maintain and communicate accurate and timely on any information, workshops, or programs with the pantry. We evaluate and account regularly for how resources are used to implement and achieve our mission.
Collaboration:
We believe in the power of community. We collaborate and build strong relationships, based on trust, with and among those who share our vision. We seek out and are responsive to the input and counsel of our partners.
Urgency
We operate with an acute sense of urgency that reflects the immediate needs of people struggling with hunger. We challenge our volunteers and partners to embrace the same sense of urgency to accomplish our shared vision.
Service
We serve with excellence, compassion and responsiveness to meet the needs of those with whom we work, internally and externally. The better we serve, the more people we bring together in commitment to our vision.
Integrity
We act with honesty, trust and openness and deliver on commitments. We act within the spirit of agreements, contracts and the law. Our intentions and actions will be transparent and above reproach.
Diversity
We believe that the ethnic, cultural and social diversity of our nation should be reflected in our staff, Board and network.
THERE ARE MANY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE. IF YOU HAVE A HEART TO REACH OUT TO PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY, THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO DO IT!
